| Protozoan Fin
and body rot |
Irregular greyish-white
patches appear on head and back; Fins eventually shred of
completely. If gills are affected, fish gasps for oxygen. |
Bath all fish in affected
aquarium in 3% salt solution. For catfish, use solution containing
2 grains of quinine crystals per gallon of water. Disinfect entire
aquarium. |
| Tuberculosis |
loss of appetite,
sluggishness, progressive thinness and gradual wasting away.
Yellow spots at the base of the caudal pedulance in tetras are
also signs of fish TB. |
Isoniazid,250mg. per 5 gallons
plus Rifampin in the food. |
| Popeye |
The eyes start to bulge as
though a bubble is forming around them

| Tail rot &
Fin rot |
tail or fin rot is
caused by slime bacteria and is easily seen by the whitish appearance
of the infected area. Water changes are often responsible for
weakening the fish's resistance to bacterial infections of this
sort. |
treat aquarium water
with antibiotics. Change water partially during treatment so as not
to increase dosage factor.

| Fungus
infection |
a cottony growth on either one
or multiple parts of the fish . Area usually will first show signs
of being bruised or torn. |

fish are cured water should be changed. treatment should last
about a week. |
